It is with pleasure that I welcome you to Lara Primary School.
I have had the privledge of working with the school since the beginning of Term 2 2009, and have been impressed with the welcoming, caring and supportive nature of parents, staff and students. As I spend time in classrooms, I appreciate the thought, time and commitment our teachers place to ensuring a calm and safe learning environment – where students are able to share, discuss and reflect upon their learning in a supportive environment.
Classrooms use the first part of the day to tune students into learning in a variety of ways, including enabling students to organise their belongings and learning tools, ensure students have water and brainfood to use during learning time, engage in a community circle, share how they’re feeling, switch on brain buttons ,…so from the first moments of the day, to when the students pick up their bags and head for home, we focus our attention and energy on learning.
All students engage in focused daily instruction in Literacy, Numeracy and Integrated Inquiry. My personal passion is around Literacy learning and teaching, and I relish the opportunity to engage with teachers and students in the classroom. You will learn more about the teaching and learning programs we offer, and how to support your child at home in other places on the website.
We enjoy learning with and from students, staff and parents on a daily basis in our school. There is joy in the challenges, insights and celebrations that we experience on a daily basis.
